SKYWATCH FRIDAY (Remnants of Ike)

My pictures this week were taken from the car whilst traveling back from Indianapolis. We had been visited by the remains of Hurricane Ike the day before and although it was no where near as bad for us as it was for the poor people in its direct path when it first made landfall, it still left its mark by flooding numerous homes and leaving many roads under water. Please excuse the quality of the images - they were taken from a moving vehicle!

This shot was taken when the vehicle was stationary.................just before we merged onto the interstate!!!

For more great images check out skywatch.

Good photos..we were supposed to get flooding with Ike's rain, but it passed a little to the north..actually is was then just a depression, not even a storm. All those poor people and all the wildlife along the Texas coast...

Celeste: Nice weather photos and it looks like the rain gathered for you. I'm glad most of the problems are done from Ike.

Those are amazing photos and as the fishing guy had wrote... I'm very happy that the problems are now starting to lessen in numbers from that nasty storm!

Hope your weekend is very nice!

Your photos of the remaining storm clouds are interesting, but oh my goodness - that shot of the Interstate is very sobering! I trust you got home safely.

Michelle - You are lucky to have missed out on Ike! I was amazed how many of the skywatch posts this week were Ike related.

Babooshka - Well as a Brit myself, we do tend to have a preoccupation with talking about the weather :)

Eddie D - Believe it or not, that road is still closed!

Luiz - Thanks, hope you had a great weekend too. I will try to get something organised for Todays Flowers soon.

Fishing Guy - Thanks, it was amazing how much of the country was affected by Ike in one way or another.

Michele - I think we got off very lightly compared to all the poor people in Texas. Thanks for dropping by.

Bobbie - Yes we did thanks, it just took rather longer than planned!

Island Rambles - The scariest part was when the big trucks went ploughing past with a bow wave big enough to swamp our car!

Tommy V - It was pretty nasty, about seven inches of rain in five hours in our area!

Carrie and Troy - A bit of water indeed! We made it through OK though :) Thanks for dropping by.

Amazing series. Perhaps you should say motor-boated instead of merged!

Kathie - Yes I think you are right, it was a very odd scene.
